Date: 2010-02-26 06:20 am (UTC)However, I also Derwent watercolour pencils because their pigments (except in the blues) are stronger than the Albrecht Durer's.
And then I sometimes use cheap Faber Castells as well, because they apply more smoothly, which is good for washes and stuff.

Same goes for the coloured pencils I use after I've applied the watercolour pencils - but predominantly Faber Castell & Derwent. I loathe Prismacolor. Haven't used Crayola since I was a kid.

Date: 2010-02-26 07:00 am (UTC)I like seeing the variations in composition all next to eachother like that. I need to show some of your art to my zoologist friend, she loves birds (and these four all have such great expressions!) and will appreciate your love given to less common animals.
Don't think I don't see Two Foxes there in the background bein' all gorgeous, either!

Date: 2010-02-26 02:03 pm (UTC)Because I do. You have such a graceful style!
Are all of these done with ink and watercolor?
Also.. do you have prints available of the finished piece behind the birds (with the fox?)

Date: 2010-02-26 02:12 pm (UTC)I see a Princess parrot and... a plum-head? The yellow-headed one has a lorikeet look about it, but I'm not sure. At first glance I thought the uncoloured one was a cockatiel, but then no. Not sure about that one.
Very, very lovely!!
