Beautiful! Your work is gorgeous. I love it with the colored pencils in the front, seeing all the different colors, and then the drawings behind. It gives a neat effect. Keep up the awesome work. :)

I use a bunch of different brands - the ones in the picture are Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils, they're expensive, but worth it.

However, I also Derwent watercolour pencils because their pigments (except in the blues) are stronger than the Albrecht Durer's.

And then I sometimes use cheap Faber Castells as well, because they apply more smoothly, which is good for washes and stuff.

Same goes for the coloured pencils I use after I've applied the watercolour pencils - but predominantly Faber Castell & Derwent. I loathe Prismacolor. Haven't used Crayola since I was a kid.

I like that too (the coloured pencils up the front and the pictures in the back). I've done enough art for today, which is good, because I have a headache now!

thanks for the run-down. :)

I'm working through my supply stash with my kid so that when it all runs out, I can buy quality art supplies. it makes such a huge difference in enjoyability!

It really does! :D Crayola does make okay stuff, but I like blendability and smoothness in my pencils (on the flipside, I buy schminke pastels which can sometimes fall apart on the way home, they're so freaking crumbly. Heh).

Oh wow, those are some elaborate glyphs!

I like seeing the variations in composition all next to eachother like that. I need to show some of your art to my zoologist friend, she loves birds (and these four all have such great expressions!) and will appreciate your love given to less common animals.

Don't think I don't see Two Foxes there in the background bein' all gorgeous, either!

I am salivating over those pencils. Stationery *love*!

It has also made me want that foxes picture all the more. If only I had more money...

I swear the only reason that I developed the inking style was so that I could colour stuff in once it was finished. :D

They are! I missed the larger glyphs I used to tap into in the very beginning of the series, so I've started opening up to those again. :)

Have I mentioned that I love your artwork??

Because I do. You have such a graceful style!

Are all of these done with ink and watercolor?

Also.. do you have prints available of the finished piece behind the birds (with the fox?)

You can get prints of the two foxes here: http://www.deviantart.com/print/10797843/

And they're done in ink, watercolour pencil, and then coloured pencil / metallic paints to finish them off. :)

Parrot squeee!

I see a Princess parrot and... a plum-head? The yellow-headed one has a lorikeet look about it, but I'm not sure. At first glance I thought the uncoloured one was a cockatiel, but then no. Not sure about that one.

Very, very lovely!!

Yeah you've picked two! Or two and a half. They are, in order from right to left (as I'm weird that way):

Princess Parrot
Olive-Headed Lorikeet
Plum-Headed Parakeet
Horned Parakeet

:)

Thankyou for the education! I'd never heard of the horned parakeet and was just reading up about him on the internets! :~)
