So we've just come to the end of a fairly intense heatwave.
In Ellenbrook, because we don't get the seabreeze, and heat swelters against the Darling Scarp, it's always about 2-4C more than it is in the Perth metro area.
So we've mostly been dealing with average temps of 41C for four days in a row. (A range of about 105-110F for USians).
Complete with high humidity.
Last night, the weather broke down as a degrading tropical cyclone system approached.
And now today, we have rain.
But here were the clouds from last night's sunset, which was glorious.

Earlier in the afternoon:

This section had a really interesting bit of mammatus:

So I took a close up:

And so night begins to fall:

Date: 2017-01-29 06:08 am (UTC)Ugh. We've had so many over 40 days. A bunch of 44c. I just am not made for this. This is my first summer in Western Sydney and it's awful.
We had a couple of 30c days but it's back up to 41 tomorrow and 43 on Tuesday. I have no idea how you do it long term. We're going to have to save up and get a better aircon. The second hand one is not enough.

Date: 2017-01-31 10:18 am (UTC)The room is quite small. I think even a basic store bought one would do better than the old one we have. So I guess we can only go upwards?

Date: 2017-01-30 01:03 am (UTC)Hopefully your temperatures will ease off. We're currently in a warm spell which is very nice, but it is accompanied by absolutely bellowing winds (35-ish km/hr gusts, over a base of 22km/hr) which I am not enjoying. The weather will be shifting to a more moderate winter pattern tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it.

Date: 2017-01-30 04:09 pm (UTC)Oh I *love* those kinds of winds. We get 20-30kmh on a fairly regular basis (third windiest city in the world) -> two days this week will have those kinds of winds (which aren't fun when it's 40C but anyway). Even though I love them, they're not really that helpful for anything, and they play havoc with my body regardless. But I'm glad things are going to become more 'typical winter' for you soon.
