So Glen takes a handful of late night, post-training frootloops.

He says 'go away cats, I'm not giving you any!!!'

I say 'oh just drop one on the floor, they won't eat it.'

He drops one on the floor, and Maybe, who is meant to be on this totally restricted diet, eats it.

So I give up and say, 'oh you better give Moet one too or he'll get jealous.'

Moet also eats his frootloop.

Fucking cats.

*snicker* Cats are weird. =^.^=

Both of my cats like tomato sauce. And one LOVES the smell of strawberries; he'll just roll and brush up against them, which is somewhat problematic since a good portion of his coat is white. XD

Strawberries - that's really interesting! Smokey, our old cat, used to like corn. But I've never met a cat that liked fruit!

BWAHAHAAA. I shouldn't laugh too hard, though. Our older cat Mister eats everything and anything. Especially if it's human food. And especially cereal. He freaking loves cereal. (Usually he just fusses over the milk, but if he can catch me before I'm done eating the cereal part, ZOMG.) We don't really care that he eats human food, though; he was a stray when we got him and we had to teach him to eat cat food. He does come into the dining room to claim crumbs of our dinner, but only before we've started eating and are still cooking, or after we've eaten. Plus, he is so freaking skinny. He needs the extra food.

Moet does not need extra food. He's a heavy man. Maybe on the other hand, she's got a good metabolism or something, she's always been a very healthy weight.

hahaha. My cat eats weird things. Actually, all my animals do. My horse's favorite treat is malt crackers, and my cat loves Goldfish crackers.

*snickers* But Frootloops are teh!awesome, so of COURSE your cats would love them!

Our youngest cat, Elphie, likes ice cream. Our next youngest cat, Gabe, likes... everything. He will literally eat like he's a damned dog, if we let him. But one of his favorite things? [livejournal.com profile] shatterpath's buttercream icing [made with Crisco and sometimes a little bit of alcohol]. You know how dogs react when eating peanut butter? That's Gabe with the icing.

And yes, we HUGELY moderate the people food our cats get. These are rare treats. Mostly, they get bits of cooked proteins from us if they get people food treats.

ETA :: Actually, I'd almost forgotten... Gabe also goes SPASTIC for Triscuits, particularly the cheddar ones. And our vet, while initially surprised that he'd eat them, actually gave us the okay for him to have the equivalent of 1 Triscuit per day, because it's good for helping clean his teeth!

See, icecream doesn't surprise me at all, and buttercream icing and stuff - anything with dairy or animal products in it. Moet likes cream / egg / cheese / icecream / cake - anything with animal product, even if ther's sugar. Heh.

Moet and Maybe almost never get people food treats. In fact, it's really really rare. I don't know if - aside from last night (which was an exercise in poor judgement) - Maybe ever has.

We don't give a lot of human food treats to the cats, primarily because we don't want them to think they can get into any food that might be left out. So when they do get it, it's definitely a treat to them.

Rascal always used to love french fries. I thought it was probably the salt, except she liked them even if they weren't very salty.

It could also be that they were probably cooked in animal fat? A lot of french fries are. :)

That's ok, when I got back from the bathroom Archer was eating my strawberry/kiwi fruit sauce. He also eats my applesauce if I let him. Weirdos.

That is weird.

Weirdoes.

I can understand cats eating milk/egg/cheese derivatives. But fruit? Vegetables? My previous cat Smokey had a thing for corn. He would do *anything* for corn.

Oh I'm pretty strict with the cats. About twice a year Moet will get a crust from one of my sandwiches, but not if he asks / begs. Only if he doesn't ask / beg.

Maybe doesn't beg at all. She's very good. :)

oh, and Drake's cat likes malted milk balls. I shit you not. He dropped one on the floor accidentally, figured he'd get it later because what cat would eat it? ...crunch, crunch, crunch... >_

It doesn't surprise me when cats eat anything derived from an animal product - i.e. eggs / milk / cheese; because they'd eat it in the wild (eggs in particular, which makes cake very appealing to a lot of cats for that alone).

It does surprise me when cats eat things that have *no* animal products in them. Heh.

See that's what surprised us, Moet never eats sweet things. Chocolate, nougat, caramel, you can put it in front of him and he's not remotely interested. Maybe is the same; we can leave Mars Bars on the floor if we wanted to and they wouldn't be eaten.

But I should've remembered that Moet likes bread, and will eat just about anything grain-based (which - despite their radical colours - frootloops still are). As for Maybe, it was dropped on the ground like during food training, I'm an idiot! Lol.

but chocolate, nougat and caramel are sticky and would be difficult for sharp pointy cat teeth to chew.. :P I can't leave bread on the bench because the cats will be into it and knock it on the floor and the dogs will finish it off. I lost almost a whole loaf of bread one night

Boy fur there loves people food. We do what we can to make sure he gets good food (not hyper processed), but it does supplement his dry kibble. His faves, outside of meats (chicken, tuna, beef, pork, turkey, certain seafoods) include grapes (I know), strawberries, cheese, black olives (i only eat black ones, greens have to be 'soused' in martinis), ice cream, chips (the salt off of them), taters (mashed), butter (to the point where he's licked a stick before), milk, mushrooms and ranch dressing.

Grapes and onions I'm told are poisonous, but he's 14, and doesn't get them every day.

Siren's learning that people food is ok, but she doesn't like much, just animal based products.

I used to have a cat that stole the bread that people had put out for the birds. He'd chase the birds *away* steal the bread and hide it behind the settee! He'd never eat it and would defend his stash if we tried to remove it!
