[News] Okay this is fucking awesome!!!
Jun. 2nd, 2010 08:48 amMegafauna Aboriginal cave painting of the 'demon ducks' Genyornis could be 41,000 years old, pre-dating the current oldest known cave painting by 11,000 years.
(ETA: I like how intelligent the comments are on the ABC article. Heh.)
After all, in Australia, Genyornis was thought to have gone extinct 40,000 years ago, pretty much. Wow, I hope it is that old. :)
What I love is that Australia has so much neat stuff that this cave painting was found 2 years ago, and they knew two years ago it had the potential to change the world's understanding of art and cave painting; but there's too much cool stuff to get around to in Australia! So they got to it this month.
An additional article about it.

Date: 2010-06-11 06:02 am (UTC)I just friended you, I hope you don't mind. This is why. I have recently started teaching a multiple system lj friend shaman stuff. (I trained with a shaman in my late teens and it kept on going from ther) and was talking about Lynx medicine. I googled "lynx medicine" and hit the Wildspeak site. The description of Lynx medicine was Good. So I kept checking it out. You mentioned you had a livejournal. Oh kewl. So I checked that out (along with your artwork on the animals, *drools* wondering why you had so many Aussie ones - were you Australian? Couldn't see on the site...)
So back on lj I recognise your name. Oh hang on, one of Sagey's friends, right?
Right! And on DIDsupport too.
Kewl!
So then I kept looking and oh the pictures of your cats are sooooo gorgeous. So thus I friended you.
Hello!
Like I said, hope you don't mind :-)
Oh and why I commented on this post not the most recent, was to ask did you see the women who is the traditional owner interviewed? She has been on our (NT) Stateline a couple of times. I think she is an awesome spokesperson for her people :-)

I didn't unfortunately! Only saw it online (we don't watch the news), so didn't see any videos. It would've been quite something though. :)
And yes! I'm Australian. I live in Western Australia. :) It's a pleasure to meet you.
