Haha, aww. Has she figured out that the cone of shame is excellent to carry food around in? Our little cat did that with crunchies. It took her a day or so, but she eventually figured out how to bend over and scoop the kibbles up. Then, when she wanted to eat some, she'd put her head to the ground and wiggle her body to get the food to fall so she could eat it. Then again, she's a total pig. XD

Also, Maybe's expression in the "Bo Peep" shot is really adorable.

Oh no, she doesn't do that. She really just doesn't mind it. She eats, she drinks, she goes outside, she shakes her head to settle it a couple of times a day, but otherwise she's not remotely interested in getting it off. She licks the band of fabric tape sometimes though, I think because it reminds her of fur.

She's being remarkably good, actually.

Except for this morning, where she wanted me to pat her head at 5.00am and kept bashing the plastic cone into my face. That was less fun. Lol.

Not cranky or put out from the Cone of Shame, she doesn't love the camera when it's coming in for close up shots. That's why in the shots that are furthest away, she looks the most relaxed. She's still working out the camera.

that's one cool kitty! hmm as for being bashed with the plastic cone... try being bashed by a big dog with a dog sized cone trying to get through a gap that he would fit through normally. He actually scratched my leg with his cone! :P

There certainly isn't much of her they left unshaved, is there? She really does have a lovely, happy disposition obviously, given that she's only a little put out in the one photo. Many cats would be sulking indignantly because of the cone.

They shaved a lot! I suppose it's because they use pain patches over some other forms of pain medication, so as well as the usual spots on her fore-arms/belly, there's both sides of her ribs too.

Those pain patches aren't small. There's also a fair sized spot on her neck too, which you can't see because of the cone (you can see it a little bit on the left, in the first photo).

Vet said she needed a pretty warm environment over the next week, because she'll be colder than usual, it's going into Winter, and she's healing; so we've had our heater on and the curtains open to let sun in. She's definitely gravitating towards the heat! And she lets us put blankets on her while she's sleeping at the moment.

I can't wait to get this cone off her though, probably tomorrow night, after her check up. It will have been six days since the surgery, the surgical site is healing reaaaally well, and as she has no stitches to pull out, I don't think they'll mind her having it off. She needs a good groom, anyway.

If you can set something up so she can be outside but not get sand or dirt on herself it would actually be good for her to be out in the sun for a bit. You'd have to watch that the exposed skin doesn't burn, but a short period out in the sun seems to speed wound healing in many cases.

She got some supervised time outside today in the sun (fifteen minutes), thankfully she runs inside as soon as I want her inside (Moet is a bit trickier atm). She doesn't like rolling around on the sand, so she rolled on some paving in the sun a little bit, got to see her surgery site in proper lighting and it's looking soooo good.
