Maybe is home. She has intradermal stitches, which will dissolve; so no stitches to be removed (or that we can even see!). She's also on injected antibiotics, so no pills! She has a mini cone of shame, which the vet even talked about removing tomorrow, but then he said maybe, and then he sort of laughed at his own joke and said 'maybe Maybe!' And I said 'maybe not!' Since I know what she's like.

She cried all the way home, and then as soon as she got in, her tail was up like a flag, she was purring, sniffing, walking around. She jumped on the couch. She climbed her cat tower. She jumped on my lap while I was on the toilet and forgot to close the door, and promptly lay down and purred and looked up at me dreamily. She's had some water. She's eaten.

Moet sniffed her lots and lots, and then hissed at her like twenty times. She smells like vet, Fentanyl (she still has a pain patch), and she has a cone on her head. It's going to take him a little while, I think. On the plus side, he's stopped crying.

She has to go back in tomorrow to get the Fentanyl patch removed and to decide if she needs some more pain medication. And then it's a check up in the future, and then she is home free, pretty much. She's doing well, has been shaved everywhere (I have pictures), and has about a 12cm long cut up her belly (no picture of that yet).

Anyway, she's just gotten up and is now sitting next to me on the chair. She clearly hasn't hurt herself from jumping previously anyway, though I may have hurt everyone in a 15 kilometre radius with the shriek I made as she climbed the tower.

Now she is licking the cone over the position where her surgery was. Thank goodness for the cone of shame! She's much more limber, stretchy, relaxed when sleeping etc. She just walked on my lap, and then jumped off my lap while I said 'oh my god what is wrong with you?!'

And she walked away fine. Aside from STILL scaring us to death, she's doing fine, it seems.

Glad she's doing ok and seems very much herself :D

That patch she's wearing makes it look like she has a fabric belly rather than a normal one. It's so cute and I can't help giggling at it.

I'm glad she's doing well though and being her typical insane self.

You can't actually see the patch on that side, that's just normal belly! The patch is on the other side, it's got writing on it and everything. :)

Heh. This activity level is why I thought she might need to be restrained. I'd be horrified too. Your vet obviously has great faith in his vet bond and stitching! :D

It's great to hear that she's feeling so well. Hopefully this means that she will recover both easily and quickly. And then you all just have to recover from the fright she gave you.

yay! cute kitteh. Withdrawal of painkillers may mean she moderates her behaviour/activity level too.

I didn't realise she'd look so much like fabric with her fur gone. Are you sure she's a real cat and not just a cuddly toy that's come to life?

It's still cute no matter what it is. That's going to itch when the fur grows back though. My suggestion is some cheap moisturiser - that's what I used on Sharna when he 'I'm allergic to dog food' patch returned when she moulted.

Aawww, that poor shaved belly. And oh my goodness, cone of shaaame.

I would have shrieked too seeing her climb a tower like that. D: So SOON little one?!

That little cat has such a HUGE personality...it's hard to believe that a spirit that size is housed in one little kitty body. ^_^ Good for Maybe!

I thought Moet might be a little hissy with her. She smells & looks funny (like you said) plus he's probably just a tad upset with her. They'll settle down. You're going to have to watch him, to be sure he doesn't start licking her stitches. Then he'd need his own Cone Of Shame, & imagine how much he'd hate that!

Ooh, see-through cone. That's good. I've always disliked the white plastic ones and they've been the only ones I've ever seen on dogs and cats, well, aside from a purple cone once. >.>

When we got Wealtheow fixed, she had to wear the cone of shame for a week. By the end of the week she had devised a way to toss her cat toys and catch them in the cone. Her belly was shaved too and it was 'little girl pajamas pink', we said, and I thought it was adorable even though I wouldn't want her to have to be shaved there again. Her fur grew back quickly and you would never know now.

I'm so glad Maybe is home and being herself. LOL @ Moet hissing at her. 'Welcome home, now never do that again, you smell funny, OK?'

>,<

Glad to hear she's home & doing well.

I gotta say, though, she looks like the first one to fall asleep at a drunken frat party. Weird crap on her head & one half shaved. The look on her face in the first picture should be captioned, "Oh, you guys are asses!"

So glad she's home and safe and happy and obviously doing really well.

Good heavens, she has been pretty thoroughly shaved, yes. It always makes me laugh, how much they look like they have been mowed like a lawn.

Sweet pretty spotty baby.

poor thing! (LOL) I remember when Siren had her spay, and was shaved - took quite awhile for the fur to grow back.

Cats are hard to convince to rest easy after surgery, especially the young ones, too much energy!

*hugs* I'm glad she's home!

The fentanyl is already wearing off (all effects will be out of her system in three hours), so she's started moderating her behaviour a little (i.e. climbing the bed instead of jumping), but this morning she's eaten, urinated (still no defecation, but it might take a little while to form stool), still very active, even when she lies in a position that's comfortable for her abdomen, she doesn't look nearly as miserable.

But I figured if she had done herself any damage from 'regular displays of athleticism' last night, she'd be not as good this morning; and she still seems fine. Just...jumping a little less.

She slept in my bed all last night. :)

She's already started moderating her behaviour, less jumping and more 'climbing' things. But she's eating / drinking and still good this morning, so I'm assuming that even with the pain patch she didn't do any damage last night.

If he started licking the operation site, I'd probably restrict her to my room for most of the day, so Moet couldn't get to her. It sounds like her cone will be coming off in the next few days, so it seems like licking isn't so bad when it's intradermal stitches and therefore nothing to pull out.
