Death. From. Cute.

Koala - I don't generally love koalas, they're like the Australian stoners of the animal kingdom; they have evolved to eat a food that literally leads to brain retardation. Not only that, but they can be incredibly vicious, vicious bastards, to each other and to people. But seriously, when they're sleeping, or just sitting in a tree branch, they are really cute and fluffy.

Kangamoo

I couldn't help myself

Drama Queen - So I'm watching all these kangaroos lolling around, and then this one stretches and affects an 'oh god, I'm dying! Tell my loved ones I'll miss them!' What I love most of all is the pale joey behind her watching like, 'stop it. That is most undignifying.'

Pale Joey - Not albino, but leucistic. Red kangaroo and all.

Feed Me - You can of course feed all these kangaroos, though Mum and I spent the majority of our time just patting the ones that like neck rubs and neck scratches.

No Really, Feed Me - Same kangaroo and my brother.

Whee! We are being fed! - Big male on the right. He was a big sooky bear.

Ho Hum - 'If you are going to feed from me, I am, at the very least, going to rest my upper half on your back.'

Neck Scar, Babeeeeeee - Etcetera.

Perentie

More Perentie!

We really do. And I heart them all. Except maybe the most venomous of the spiders and snakes.

I always considered koalas as kinda vertical cats when they are sleeping.

SO CUTE!
Hope this doesn't sound creepy, but your neck scare is really pretty, btw. Like some sort of necklace.

Aw, thank you! I've never heard it described like that before, and I don't find that creepy at all.

The "I'm dying... DYING..." one is hysterical, but I think my favorite is of the mother kangaroo leaning while her little one as a meal. "Hey buddy, come here often?"

I didn't even realise until I got home and looked through my photos and there's this kangaroo in the background clutching its chest and reaching for the sky. Kangaroos are smart and trainable, how awesome would it be to train a kangaroo to do that on command? :D Heh.

I love kangaroos, I've always wanted one, actually. And an emu. Actually I've always wanted a big menagerie of animals I can't justify keeping all at once.

They are fuzzy, and really really soft. They're kind of woolly/fleecy, and the joeys are just like 'oh god I take you home now?' Heh.

Koalas are really adorable. I think I went off them because they're just so stereotypically 'Australiana', you know? But they ARE cute.

Oh awesome! I actually don't find Koalas to be cute. Why are they called bears when they're not bears?!

The kangaroos are cool. I thought they'd be much bigger though. :3

Date: 2010-04-17 12:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com
Well they're not called bears here, it sort of evolved as a common name, but we just call them koalas.

Some kangaroos are very big, but they're the biggest, most aggressive males - and they wouldn't be kept at a park where they can interact with kids, because they can be very violent / lethal.

But overall, kangaroos aren't huge.

Also, the perentie.. they look familar, but i've never heard of them, i don't think.

I've always been vaguely nervous about koalas.

I always got the same vibe from koalas as I do pandas. It all makes sense now. They are retarded, too. Why do some animals choose to become evolutionary point singularities? Kinda makes me wonder if, with all our preservatives and additives if that's where we're headed. "Oh noes, teh foodz is making us r-tards!!!" .... "But... I really want a Big Mac... Om nom nom"

D~: Which was all got, I trust?

My first thought was thyroid, as 2 of my friends have have lost part or all of their thyroid. But their scars were lower than yours. Hence my curiosity.

Mine was a carotid body paraganglioma, very rare tumour, caused by an even rarer syndrome; familial paraganglioma syndrome, which is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder.

They got it all, but there's a small chance it could come back, or the vein graft that replaced my internal carotid artery could fail. I have ultrasounds and stuff every few years as a result.

Fun!

I think you've told me about this before? *has swiss-cheese memory* Cos I remember looking it up once before...
If I did, I apologise for making you repeat yourself, and apologise in advance for the next time I ask you the same question. ;~P

I mentioned it very briefly in a post a while back, just saying that it's still not something anyone has listed on LJ interests, so it may have been that?

And I have a swiss cheese memory too, so no fear! :)

The first koala pic is adorable. I like the kangaroo pics too. It was a kangaroo in a dream that first brought me to find your journal. :) I've not heard of perentie before. A very interesting creature. A bit terrifying to me but interesting too.
