I loathe prismacolours.

They are derwent watercolour pencils. This is the first step in colouring. :)

Yeah. I find them way too waxy, almost like crayola crayons. I think that's great when you're working on a rough textured paper that can handle that. But for the work I do, I prefer smoother, more blendable colours for fine-grained work.

Derwents and high quality Faber Castells are the tools of the trade for me. :)

The clouded leopard looks fantastic, and I also really like the soft colours on the ones in behind. Early days, yes, toward your finished look? It's very interesting to see the layers of work in progress.

Yup, first layer of colouring. Dry watercolour pencil, then water, then regular pencil, then sometimes more regular pencil, then acrylic / gouache / metallic paints, and then touch up on the ink.
