Mar. 24th, 2010 07:48 amLast Night's Electrical Storm

In Vilturj, lightning, particularly that which streaks across the horizon, is known as tecze zrzak, or lightning dragons. There were a lot of dragons around last night.

This was taken at 10pm, with not a drop of daylight in sight. Sky was literally being lit up from corner to corner. We weren't the only ones who decided to stand out the front and murmur with wonder at the spectacle, that was so far away we heard no thunder.

Every few seconds, we got something like this.

The bolts that came straight down to the ground were often very thick and hit multiple times in the same spot. Lighting up the whole sky as they did.

These two hit the ground so many times, you can no longer see the bolt of lightning itself (instead, looking like a white incandescent glow between the clouds and the hills), and can only see the light the repeated lightning exposures created.

There was at least six strikes hitting the ground, in this one.

Electrical activity across the sky.

This one's a bit blurry, but I liked it for the forked lightning, holy wow.

And the perfect shot of tecze zrzak (well actually, it's not a perfect shot, it's a bit grainy, lol), crawling along the underside of the clouds.
