Date: 2010-02-06 02:59 am (UTC)I wish more places would leave at least some of the native plants intact (especially trees) rather than just clear-felling. It's so much nicer having a large tree in the yard.
(And don't get me started on the sheer hypocrisy of the way Joondalup did it, clear-felling then moving in natives and going on about being 'a city in harmony'.) [/rant] >.>

Date: 2010-02-06 08:12 am (UTC)Yup. The Malvern Springs development in Ellenbrook is not too bad (it's kept some of the older trees/eucalyptus, and are saving macrozamias and balgas and putting on in every front yard / using them extensively in local landscaping), but it's still sad to walk a tract of land, get to know the local spirits / trees / raven pair, and know that it's going soon. :(
