[Art] Teumessian Fox
Dec. 27th, 2009 06:14 amI really miss this style of pastels, which was my predominant style in highschool, actually. Part of the 'Animals are Magic' series, of which Thylacine and Numbat are previously a member. Before that, I had a lot of artwork, particularly of brolga, done like this. It's been a long long time since I worked on black paper (which presents its own challenges), but I think I'll be doing it again soon.

Teumessian Fox
- original for sale ($145, not incl. postage/handling) -
soft pastels (predominantly Schminke) and carbothellos on
Mi Tientes (35 x 52 cm / 13.7 x 20.4 in)
*

The Teumessian Fox, from the Greek cosmology, is a fox that can never be caught. Zeus, getting kind of sick of him, sent Laelaps, the dog who always caught his charge after him. They ended up in a loop that frustrated Zeus, who turned them both to stone and preserved them in the stars.

Date: 2010-01-04 06:54 am (UTC)Oh. Wow. Oh my goodness! I loved loved loved Thylacine and Numbat and Brolga.
And $145 is in my budget for 'I'd pay that for her artwork!' It's not underpricing it, is it? I seem to recall you wanted to value things properly, but I guess pastel work in this style doesn't involve the same kind of intense detail that others do.
But I can't buy it now, I'm saving up for a big out-of-town convention trip in three months. I'll need every drop. But I'm going to remember it!
