Blue Mountain Butterfly as Totem

Also known as the blue mountain swallowtail and Papilio ulysses; this stunning butterfly is native to Australia and has a wingspan of 14 centimetres. The males sometimes confuse blue objects with females and so are attracted to the colour blue.

This illustration, despite kicking my ass at first, is one of my favourites of late.

Is there an orange butterfly that looks like that... only orange where that one is blue, does anyone know?

I just did some looking for ya. There are other swallowtail species that are yellow or orange. I know I've seen the yellow ones around here.

Looking at this is so calming. I always crave blue when I'm stressed.
They way you devided things between the swirly background and the black are with large circles is perfect.

Of course! Do you want this one and the blue monarch? :) I wondered if you'd want it.

Speaking of, this has been the second most popular 'as totems' series I've ever done on DA. So far 200 people have favourited it!!!

*grins happily* Man I have received some awesome Valentine's Day presents today :) And none of them are even from Doof! :D

I wanted a blue butterfly. I will happily take this one instead of a Blue Monarch :) Though if you want more money and want to do the Blue Monarch, please feel free to do so :)

Loves you so much hon! :) *HUGE HUGS*

I might see how I feel, but two blue butterflies so close to each other is making me cringe a little. *blush* Plus you will love this one, it's so shiny in real life. It will go really well next to the unicorn. :D

Plus it's all blue!!!

*hugs* Happy valentine's gorgeous.

If it makes you cringe, leave the Blue Monarch hon and I will happily take this one. I have no doubt I will love this one, I love all of your work hon :) But more so because all I wanted was a blue butterfly, and you have done this so beautifully.

I would kick myself for not buying this one :) Doof looked at it and said did you buy it? And I was like I hope so! :) *grins*

At some point of time, will you tell me how much I owe you? :) *laughs* I've forgotten how many I have bought so far :)

Yup! I'll draw up a quote and email it to you. :) What email address should I sent it to? The government one? Or the murdoch one?

And you've got 3 - Sparrow, Unicorn and Blue Mountain Swallowtail. :)

Stunning! It looks like if you touched it, wing dust would come off on your fingertips.

Which, of course, is a Very Bad Thing to do to a real flutterby!
