Meerkat as Totem

The meerkat is a social, clan-living animal related to mongooses. They are diurnal and have a distinctive, upright alert posture when they are alarmed, looking after the clan, or aware of danger.

They are immune to scorpion venom, and were made pretty famous as an animal in the popular show Meerkat Manor.

Why not go to Compare the Meerkat (http://www.comparethemeerkat.com) and find a meerkat just right for you!

Sorry, I was reminded of this when I saw your meerkat on DA. It's a spoof page of 'compare the market.com', but I find their spoof page a lot nicer!

I love meerkats! I saw some at the San Diego zoo, but they didn't look very happy. One crawled out and literally got up on his hind legs to pose, look at each camera, and then sighed audibly and scrambled back into his hole. "Just another day at work. Sigh."

I'm in love with the symbol on this throat/chest. :) What does it represent?

I thought Meerkats were made famous from The Lion King? Though, I did see that show once and thought it really uninteresting.

I've always been indifferent towards the cuteness of meerkats. *shrugs*

The color on this is muy excelente!
Have you have thought of explaining what various colors symbolize in your art? I'm uber curious.

The colour symbolism really varies. Sometimes it's to say... mimic a background of the place an animal might live - the dark greens with the jaguar piece for example... but then the reds in that were to symbolise its role as a predator AND its connection to cultures that were heavily invested in blood sacrifice.

But red for another animal might just mean action, or activity.

So each piece is really rich with colour symbolism, but it will be more particular to that animal; instead of like a more generic kind of 'red means this,' 'yellow means this.'
