Himalayan Brown Bear as Totem

It was actually a lot of fun drawing this animal; firstly because there wasn't many reference pictures for colouring, so I had to rely on a couple of documentary snapshots, and then basically look at other bears that live in similar climates. And it's always a pleasure drawing an animal that doesn't have 4,000 different reference pictures. Lol.

Secondly, the Himalayan animals just don't get enough love.

Anyway, a little known fact about the Himalayan brown bear, is that it is probably the animal at the root of legends regarding the Yeti. :)

He looks vaguely nonplussed. However, he also looks like all sorts of artistic awesomeness--grea tcolors and shading!

Heh, nonplussed sounds about right. In the tiny amount of reference pictures I found, he also managed to look; dopey, stupid, vague and benign. Lol.

This is.. wow, there's something there that really.. strikes me, but I'm not sure what. Maybe I need to read up on that bear. Might help me out where I am. Thank you for this!

Ok, so ack, sorry to comment again, but that original link didn't feel like much to me. I asked myself what I needed to glean from the site, and the National Park really stood out to me, so here's the link from that. I feel.. a sense of calm just looking at this place, like perhaps I've been there before, in a past life.

Thank you. :) I love the colour scheme in this one. It's probably the favourite that I've done in a while.

I love how serious the expression is. Kinda like someone is in front of him/her with a stick trying to defend themselves and Himalayan Brown Bear is like, 'Really? A stick? I feel sad for you.'

Heh. My silly mind, hey? ^_^

He looks sort of like he's just been woken up, and has been awake long enough to realise that there's a source to the having been woken up, and he's not happy about it.
