[livejournal.com profile] crowebasalt, do you want to email me at ophelias.diary@gmail.com in order to yay or nay it? For now it's on hold for ya. :)

There's iridescent green on this one, on the eye, in the sigil and in small highlights on the raven itself. I mixed some blue tones with the metallic green to get a darker green that I was happy with. Awesome.

$75 US / AUD (ON HOLD)

I think Crow is sportting my favorite glyph that you've done. I like how it seems to be glowing.

Hee, I really like this glyph too actually. I don't think it's specifically 'crow,' but a hybrid. I kind of knew who it was going to be for, and I think some of their energy came through too. Hence the dominance of greens in this piece as well.

It's So Cute!

I love the expression on Crow's face... It's like it's thinking, "Ooh, a sparkly!"

I also get an Aztec kind of vibe off the sigil.

Perfect as always :D

Yes to both - loved the book, but loved the movie, too.

Some day, when I'm filthy rich, I'm hiring you to do lots and lots of pretty arts for me.
Have you ever done stained glass? I'd be really curious to see how your style would work in it.

Date: 2008-09-29 06:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dazedwolf.livejournal.com
That would be gorgeous I'll bet.

Never done stained glass, it's a very expensive hobby (at least in Western Australia), and not many classes are offered on how to do it.

That said, I do love stained glass. I'm not sure how I'd go though, in all honesty I'm quite crap at crafts. Better with art and drawing. As soon as it comes to cutting glass / frames etc.... the gods start to weep tears on my pathetic behalf.

It seems to be an expensive hobby anywhere. Sadly, it's also kind of becoming a lost art.

Mmm, your art really is lovely. Those are bland, mundane sort of words, but the meaning behind them isn't. Also the sigils really capture my imagination, my minds works in symbols and there is power and meaning in these.

*nodS* I like the sigils, not all animals 'lend' me one to use... but those that do, I often end up contemplating all the different things it could mean. Some of them never end up being clear to me at all.

That is stunning. I love your artwork. f I can figure out how to figure out what my totem is/should be I'll be buying some of your work. That said, I might have to buy some anyway, as it's just so gorgeous! Do you have a stock of work for sale or is it commission only or whatever you feel like painting is then up for sale?

You've also inspired me to heavily get back into art again. I have stayed away so long, mostly for fear of judgement of my work. Fuck it though, I'm going to do it for myself! ;)

I do request lists from time to time, when I open those up, people can choose one animal (per person) and then request to have what's called 'first dibs.' in other words they get to say yes they want it (all have so far) or 'no they don't,' because they just want to see what that animal looks like drawn. I get some truly weird requests that way.

I don't do formal commissions anymore except in very special circumstances; for example I recently - because the timing was right - drew a totem of someone's deceased and beloved pet. But otherwise... the requests keep me so busy I dn't have time.

I do have a small stock of work left for sale in the 'as totems' series. But I need to drastically revamp my website to accurately reflect what I have for sale.

I do sell prints here:

http://ravenari.deviantart.com/store/?itemtypeids=1-2-11

It's not a full range of my art, but there's heaps of stuff there; especially in Oz animals.

Not at the moment (with prints) but I'm really hoping to. It's become one of my priorities, once I've moved, to get a proper printer so I can offer all of these pieces as signed prints.

Could I possibly get a high-res file from you and print it myself with the guarantee that when you offer prints I will buy an official, signed one?

Date: 2008-10-02 01:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com
Send me an email at ophelias.diary@gmail.com, so that I have somewhere to send the upload link (the high-res file is 600 dpi, and will need tweaking in photoshop to balance out the colours). I haven't uploaded it yet, but I will once I see the email. Heh. I tend to forget comments from time to time. *blushes*

I love this -- all thegreens and blacks together really do speak of "Crow" to me. You've really captured (what I feel is) the jewel-like mystery of this bird. Congrats!
