These were taken about 10 minutes from our house. At Bell's Lookout.
We go here sometimes on balmy summer afternoons, when I get a 'sense' that the sunset will be worthwhile. I've learned the cloud and weather patterns enough here in Ellenbrook to generally be able to tell when we should go.
But this one was really special.

On the way there, travelling North-East along West Swan Road

At first it was like this and I was like 'I wonder if we've missed it.'

Never mind, the Darling Scarp behind me looked pretty too.

The moon was also showing off. We had kangaroos across the other side of the road too, but they were too well-camouflaged to get good pictures of.

Me: Oh shit we didn't miss it.

Prettiness in all directions.

Me: O.O

At this point I thought it might be fading out.

Those straggly looking trees are Casuarinas by the way.

Sky just kept getting brighter.

And then kind of post-apocalyptic. At this point the saturation levels were so high that my phone camera started to freak out a bit. It was brighter/deeper/more amazing than this irl.

Perth is just Like That sometimes.

And then this post-apocalyptic neon fuckery happened. At this point, people were just stopping all along this stretch in amazement and taking photos.

You're only meant to have one nice sunset at a time, sky, not a billion.

Even when it faded out, it looked stunning.

No, seriously salkfjsad

And then we drove home. The sky was like this for so long. Normally the pinks and reds last about 20 minutes and then fade out. But this must have lasted close to about 50 minutes, so long that we were getting eaten by mosquitoes and we drove home surrounded by pretty glows from pretty skies.
Perth summers are hard. But Perth sunsets sometimes make up for it.
