Glen got me Krispy Kreme donuts so I have succumbed to the milky-sweet flavours. I've already sneezed like fifty times a day so I don't know what worse the donut is going to do at this point?
I'm really enjoying writing this Doctrine of Labyrinths fanfiction, it's a small fandom but it's an awesome fandom. I've also been contributing a tiny amount to the Wikipedia, since there's very little content about book 4, and that's the one I've been reading the most to research this fic.
Charlotte's Vineyard is a five minute drive (if that) away from us. It's a part of Ellenbrook.

Cicada shells (at least 4)

Corymbia ficifolia, gosh I wish the one in our back garden grew this well.

Banksia seedpod

Love when these pick up the sunlight

Candle Banksia and sunset.

No idea what these were, but they were fascinating!

Eucalyptus catching the sun

Swamp paperbark

Swamp paperbark catching the sun

Lonely wood duck

And sunset

Really interesting cirrocumulus patterns

The same sunset on the drive home.

Another sunset from another day at Charlotte's!

Date: 2019-12-24 01:56 am (UTC)I would lean towards you enjoying it, actually, for the depth of worldbuilding and the interesting POV characters (the story is told across multiple first person POVs, normally two, and then three in books 3 and 4 to introduce people to new politics and a new world).
I would say though, content wise, there is explicit male/male rape (typical actually to what we used to see in like, really oldschool dark fantasy), and it happens more than once (Felix is a disaster gay and a disaster magnet). But that being said, I also found the depictions of PTSD realistic, and the recoveries of both characters (Felix, a genius wizard and his half-brother Mildmay, a lower-class assassin) very realistic and by the end of the fourth book - satisfying. There is an incest storyline, but it's one-sided, unrequited, and resolved. But I know that squicks a lot of people? I thought it was handled very well, but ymmv.
The biggest downside is that officially, some of the books are out of print. :(
