[Photos] UK 16 - Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Greenhouses Part 2

Some of these greenhouses did such a splendid job of fogging up my glasses, lol. I lost count of how many times I had to take them off, get rid of the fog, and then like, five minutes later, I was seeing through like a misty romantic camera filter.

Despite the fact that there's no people in my photos (I'm patient), they were actually quite busy for a weekday. It was nice.


The main entrance, which is freely accessible for those who want the experience but can't afford the ticket.




This photo does a terrible job of conveying how big these guys were. My grandma used to have koi around this size, as she had huge ponds in her back garden.



We were blessed with very lovely light, this day.



Not at all phallic, I promise.









Okay, this is not me ducking under a small plant to look up, this is like, these were touching the roof, they were HUGE and AMAZING.

And more of the Strongylodon. This was actually kind of everywhere, in multiple greenhouses, almost like they knew how insanely beautiful it was.

I breathed a happy sigh just looking at the photos. :D I love greenhouses, any time of year.

That Strongylodon is amazing. Those flower stalks look HUGE, even in the pic.

I haven't been to one here since I was a child, so going in Scotland has made me more determined to visit them. So glorious!

I've never seen Strongylodon prior to this. What a gorgeous plant.

Your picture posts have made me want to visit these places so much.

It was incredible. The colour made me think it was artificial, and I still thought that until someone mentioned the species on my Instagram, I could look it up, and enjoy the fact that tropical flowers are Wild.

Your photos make me desire to visit some greenhouses again. There is one associated with a museum not terribly far from me that specialises in prehistoric plants (because it is a dinosaur museum). I shall have to see when I have time off again.

I haven't visited greenhouses since I was a small child, and I think at the time I found the one I was taken to underwhelming. This was...something else entirely, and I'm going to keep them in mind when we go travelling in the future.

To be fair to younger moonvoice some greenhouses really are boring. Most aren't, though! (My memory fails me -- did you make it to Kew when you were last in the U.K.? If you haven't been you would likely enjoy it very much.)

thank you for sharing all of your photos of the edinburgh botanical garden - I spent a lot of time as a kiddo and seeing these and some of your other edinburgh photos has had me dreamy eyed all week :3

Nope, definitely love the flood, and in any case, you are using a cut which helps curb the flood for those who don't want to see said photos.
