Splendid fairy wrens are currently in breeding plumage,
and the firetail finch was really adorable.
I couldn't believe how lucky I was though
to get some of those male/female shots of the splendid fairy wrens.
I seem to be having a lot of luck lately.
Female and male Splendid Fairy Wrens.
Firetail Finch with nesting material.
I found this finch really charming, so there's a lot of pictures I apologise.
Male Splendid Fairy Wren and female (sexual dimorphism ftw!) The male was guarding the female pretty aggressively, so they made really good subjects as a result.
Female in focus.
The male is mildly floofing his cheek feathers (the pale blue ones), he can puff them all the way out.
SUPER close guarding.
And finally: Male splendid fairy wren singing up a storm in the bushland!
