[Art] Inktober selections!

There's always moar.
Because you know, when I do art, I don't just do one thing. But ALL the things. (Actually 31 days of things. I didn't quit Inktober! Go me! And my wordcount for the month skated in at 59k. So a very productive month which explains the total burnout I've been feeling for the past week, lol.)

With this particular series, I made a point of researching flora found within the region that the animal is naturally found. This led to me drawing a lot of flowers I'd never drawn before, and made me realise that I love drawing flowers. e.e


Black-Footed Ferret (Mustela nigripes) and Arrowleaf Balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata)






Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) and Painted Trilliums (Trillium undulatum)



Black Striped Weasel (Mustela strigidorsa) and Dendrobium sulcatum



Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) and 'Heavenly Blue' Morning Glory (Ipomoea indica)

Thank you! The flowers have been a lot of fun. I think I have a lot more flora illustration in my future. :)

Congrats on finishing Inktober! These are all so beautiful. I love the compositions, how black space is used to balance out the intricate inking.

Eee thank you! It's good to have it finished. I'm a bit burnt out in the first week of November though, whoops. Next year I'll try and be a bit more attentive about how I'm spreading my energy out, lol.

I love them all but particularly the ferret.

I'm so used to thinking of ferrets as domesticated that it was weird drawing it as a wild creature, lol.

I am particularly fond of the fox and morning glories, although the trilliums are a close second. I just adore those. <3

I've never seen trilliums before! It's hard to actually imagine them as just a wildflower growing around the place. I mean I'm sure we can get them in florists here - but man they are *gorgeous*

I've only seen them... twice, I think? They do grow here but they're pretty rare, and conditions have to be exactly right for them to bloom.

If they don't bloom, they look like any other dinky little understory plant - pretty but nondescript. I haven't put the time in to be able to differentiate those, I just admire them en masse. :)

I'm usually rather solitary on the internet, but connecting with a bunch of people on Twitter and Tumblr (sadly not DW? I think it's slightly harder, here...also because I neglect it a bit ugh) lately has been really lovely and inspiring. Also, hitting that point where I look at other people's work and am inspired, rather than envious/tired/deflated...
