[PotD] Maybe and Foliage

This will get me up to date with my photos of the day.
I've been taking photos of the foliage of native plants outside,
since I find foliage as fascinating as flowers.
So you'll find a series here.
Under one of the cuts is a tiny spider, just so you know.


Verticordia mitchelliana.






Adenanthos cuneatus.





Adenanthos meisneri. (I think. At any rate, it's a short-form woollybush).





Acacia merinthropa. They look like little nuts or seeds growing at the joins, don't they? But they're actually flowers. They will take about two months to fully develop.





Casuarina glauca prostate, also known as 'shagpile,' or 'Cousin It' because of the way that it grows. And a teeny spider, that was very threatened by my camera!






Maybe asking me to come to bed. She's very good these days. She sits right next to the keyboard, instead of on my hands or on the keyboard or in front of the screen. It's a very gentle (but exceedingly persistent) reminder that it's past my bedtime. When Maybe wants to go to bed, it's often time to go to bed!

I *love* those foliage photos. So very different from what one gets here, apart from the occasional desert succulents. And Maybe is completely charming in that first photo. You can really see she's sleepy even without your context. :)

People talk about dogs following them from room to room, and Maybe - unless she's fast asleep - will do the same. And actually, even at night, if I wake up because my stomach is upset, she will get up after a few minutes and sit by the toilet, waiting for me. The exceptions - outside of sleep - are when she's playing with Moet, or looking to cause general mischief.

Oh attention-seeking kitty. I wondered last night if she would have done better in a place that trained for TV or something like that. Sometimes I worry that even being home all the time, I can't meet all of her needs. But then I know that too much attention, and too much training, makes her very reactive and overwhelms her. So it's a strange balance we have to get with Maybe - stimulation without over-stimulation, and the spectrum of what counts as 'over-stimulation' changes day to day, and sometimes even hour to hour.

Maybe looks wonderfully demure in that first photo! How lovely to have such a gentle reminder to go to bed. When my dogs are tired they simply take themselves off to bed without us.

Nice to see the foliage on the verticordia. It reminded me a bit of pigs' face.

They're not remotely related, but I can definitely see the similarities. :)

It is always nice to see something different when it comes to plants because all we tend to get are broad-leafed plants, with the occasional evergreen - (I still like them, though). The little spider doesn't bother me, even though I do have a problem with spiders, but it is more when I see close ups of those big scary looking things which seem to have a profusion of eyes. When I see pictures of spiders like those, it makes me glad that I'm not on their level.

Yeah, the little spider was pretty cute actually, but I know some people just can't tolerate photos of spiders, so I thought I'd put it under a cut. :)

I think my cat would just end up clambering onto my keyboard, and do the whole purr and meow and stick his butt in my face dance. He wasn't that subtle XD.
