That said, the Cox's orange pippins and egremont russet apples are! Okay, so Kent, my home county, is a big fruit growing region. :o)

We don't just have 'apples' hereabouts! :o)

The Cox is common enough but Russets are hard to find (they're my absolute favourite apple) as they've never been able to 'dwarf' the tree stocks so they get grown less and less.

This post made me realize I prefer the word stonefruit to peach. (Or is your photo a nectarine?) It's much more evocative.

It's a small peach (rather than a nectarine). I tend to think of them all as stonefruit though. Mostly because, aside from cherries, they all come into season at the same time, so it's always like 'ohh, the stonefruit are in season!' :D
