Wow! The colouring on these is very sophisticated. Not that your work is ever crude or unreflective, but it's like you've made a stylistic leap with the colour in these where the background is as much part of the "totem" as the subject, at least to my eye. Particularly the last (who is a *gorgeous* cat). I'm especially intrigued with the white lipped Python. In terms of personal preference, of course the Wombat is my favorite (including the greens, etc.) but in terms of the most "powerful" piece out of these it's Sammi the cat, who is simply *present*. Marvelous! Thank you for sharing them with us, and I'm certain the recipients will be over the moon to receive them.

I love the wombat too. It's more subtle in colouring than the other two, but those yellowy-greens are just so friendly and warm.

Oh wow. Wombat was kind of "cute, but not attention-getting" for me in the sketch/linework stages, and then you added color and it's like "holy crap!" amazeballs. So much contrast and vividness and I love the addition of the plant!

Sammi is utterly captivating. ♥

And of course White-Lipped Python is incredible, but I already squeed at you about that one! :>

I just wanted to let you know he got here safely and I am absolutely in love. Agonizing over choosing a frame currently and we are moving soon, so I'll have to decide on a new place to display him, but I'm totally one hundred percent thrilled.

My boyfriend is quite fond of him too. ;)

You really got the 'oil' color of the python spot-on. So beautiful! I am guessing that was a commission for someone? (And if so, I'm fairly certain I know who and zi's going to love it!)

The cat is also stunning. The oranges and yellows really add a nice contrast to the black fur.

Thank you so much, re: the oily affect. We don't have them here, but we do have some pythons that have a similar 'oil slick' effect, and while it's tough to capture, it's fun too. And yeah, all three are commissions. :)

I am not ashamed to admit I squeaked "snake!" when I saw this – alas, predictability. It's quite a lovely image. Also, a little off topic, but: I just saw, for the first time, the montage of previous totems you have posted on your commissions sticky. I love the animals that you choose (and other people request?) to illustrate.

The colors for all of these are so striking, but I'm really entranced with the Sammi piece. Those eyes!
