So, there is this amazing sculptor, Le Animale
(secretly her name is Laura and she is amazing),
who makes light-hearted animal totems.
I love having physical representations of animals,
especially small, robust ones. And have been slowly building my collection for a little while. And it's been so much fun. :)
So, you can see we have my wolverine necklace (a custom order), an octopus, a narwhal, a psychedelic snail, a miniature snail (a custom order), a platypus and a himalayan monal (a request). They sit in front of my own illustration of himalayan monal, which is one of the very few totem pieces I've ever kept for myself. In fact, now that I've listed red kangaroo and olm, I daresay it's the only totem illustration I've ever kept for myself...

Date: 2012-06-18 05:45 pm (UTC)I was just wondering regarding your requests, is it possible to make a blank one? As in you settle on whatever animal pops into your head? I don't know if it works like that for you at all?

Date: 2012-06-19 12:44 am (UTC)Ah I wish I could! I am ethically against letting other people know what their guides or totems are, or what my impressions of their guides or totems are for two main reasons. 1. I could easily be wrong, with millions of animals to choose from, my brain may poorly interpret one energy as another and 2. It takes away the ability for a person to discover that animal themselves (if they haven't already), if only because there can be a moment of wonder and awe in that journey, and if I am wrong, I may even misdirect the person away from the animal.
I'm so sorry! I know a lot of shamanists don't really have a problem with this, and it may even be a Vilturj-specific reluctance.
And Delicate Mouse is amaaaazing. There's a full totem essay here, which stresses some of their major lessons. But delicate mouse is a complex, cryptic little dude, so there's a lot more in that well. :)

Date: 2012-06-19 06:04 am (UTC)It's amazing how well Delicate Mouse fits me, and also amusing to read that what it says I should do is exactly what I have been doing. I guess the image just found me a bit after the message/totem did. But really, it is spot on. Not sure if I have to fill up my PayPal account or what, but I'll tackle that when I get home. Which is now tomorrow, since they moved up the timetable out of the blue. Lots to do! /o\

Date: 2012-06-20 01:42 am (UTC)Oh! My bad, I described wrong. I do get visuals too, it's just still not part of Vilturj practice to share that with others. Particularly in my role as milti Oraima. I wouldn't be doing my 'job' properly if I weren't encouraging others to look for what is around them for themselves, if that makes sense.

Date: 2012-06-19 12:49 am (UTC)Though I really lust after the "shadow" totems. Whatever she's using for that black is really gorgeous.
