[Art] autodidact: An Unlikely War - Work in Progress

I'm working pretty solidly on this, simply because I need the kitchen table for a piece of illustration board this size so I won't be able to work on it during my 'regular' hours (at night, and on weekends).
My back is starting to hurt a bit now, so I'll take some painkillers and have a rest.
Only two fineliners have been harmed in the making of this illustration.
So far.

At this stage, I really like the difference in contrast between the outline only octopus and the more-detailled wolverine.

Also, having seen the completely black octopus first, its interesting to note that my mind filled in the places where the tentacles curled within the black mass in the top but not this one. There's a different feel to it and this one, even though both are undetailled.
