This has been rolling across Perth, assiduously avoiding Ellenbrook (*shakes fist*), but here's the edge of it, looks impressive, no? The lightning was pretty spectacular. Maybe it will resolve into something later.
I love skyscapes and cloud formations and all the light and shadow and color that happens there. These are wonderful shots. The clouds look unreal, or like the pictures are upside down and it's really the ocean you're shooting, all frothy.
I love how it can feel like you're underwater sometimes, with storms. It's always so much easier to tolerate the humidity when you can watch it, vs. when you cannot.
I'm not, though I've been thinking about it. I have a few publications on clouds though, and I love observing the weather and I probably check out the weather radar a few times a day (unless it's just going to be blastedly hot). It's only really been a recent discovery; I mean I've always loved clouds, but I had to really get to know them better when researching a science fiction novel I'm writing, so, yeah. :)
I wish you could be here regularly - the flatness of Western Australia, and the fact that the lack of pollution make for some of the clearest, biggest skies in the world visually, and we do get spoiled in terms of cloud cover; though I would kill to see some asperatus!
Lovely! I watched the lightning in the distace between about 2 and 4am (nothing weird about that at all, right?) but there was absolutely nothing overhead at all. I tell a lie - there was a great deal of clear starry sky. At first I thought a neighbour was welding!
