So Glen, Putu and I hung out yesterday afternoon,
and decided to find a park where we could go for a walk.
Because it's lovely, balmy Spring weather right now,
and great for mostly being ratbags
and scaring the locals.

The papery bark from the eponymous 'paperbark' tree.

It's a me!

I always forget we have this park less than a five minute drive away; it's pretty nice.

Let's pretend there's no tiger snakes in there.

My two boys.

Here they were playing with a soccer ball ridiculously close to the water.

It could - of course - only end in tears. (But we did get the ball back!) Thank goodness for 25 kmh winds.

Stink beetle!

I love this shot. We were all being so silly. I wish I could say that I took it; but I didn't. Glen grabbed the camera off me and Putu started running in circles around him - it was a total coincidence that this ended up being one of the photos that came out. :)

This are great photos, and the park looks very nice. That last photo is also *great*, but I suspect it's chance that it turned out (I have no idea how to set up for such a shot, other than to take a lot of photos and hope one turns out).

It is a beautiful park :)

Stinky beetle, lol. I caught a ton of them over the summer.

Is it strange that the paper-y bark automatically started to make my skin itch. o.O I experience this a lot, like with holes in the wall or a building is falling apart or something.

Everything else is lovely! Every time you post pics I always get the impression that it's always Spring and Summer! But I guess it's Spring or something now right?

Your "stink beetles" are the same as what we call "stink bugs" in the US; they are becoming a serious problem here in the Northeast. They like to go indoors when the weather gets cold, and they will nest inside stored clothing in attics and such places... with unpleasant results when someone goes to use the clothes :-(

They only stink if you injure or kill them. I've occasionally had one come inside the house when the door or window was left open, and I just chase it back outside.

I suppose one advantage to living out in the nowheres is that even the parks are big, lovely places!

Also, the fact that you're going into spring makes me want to live in the southern hemisphere for this half of the year, so I can always skip the worst of winter.

Such a lovely looking park. I feel like taking a drive to the local park now. Also, awesome photos, especially that last one.
