This poor juvenile raven was getting absolutely hammered by these two willie wagtails. I mean hammered.

Those mean wagtails just kept on hassling them, didn't they?

Oh man, it was brutal. At least 25 minutes, and people standing around thinking the raven was injured (it wasn't, and flew to another tree, it just couldn't catch a break). It only really got left alone when the sun set properly.

I love how the first photo of the eucalyptus flower shows that they start out with lids. :D

Ah yes! They do! :D And different types of lids, as well. Some look like bowls, some look like icecream cones, some look like little gnome hats and are even red to boot. When we were children, we used to pull the waxy, robust little 'lids' off eucalyptus flowers ourselves, and collect them, and then have fairy tea parties. Hee.

With the dark purple and white plant where you don't know what it is -- the stamens coming out look almost like a snake's tongue. It's very interesting to see something botanical look so biological. I also love the various park and beach photos. Beautiful place! :)

It was a climber growing in a clump, wish I knew what it was, but it's certainly not local. Maybe from a really Southern biome, or even really far up North. Fascinating plant!

It looks similar to something that used to grow on my GP's office's front wall. Stuffed if I know what it is, though :(

Even if it's not, it looks pretty similar to what I remember, and it looks like it would grow around here, so I think I want one anyway :D

Well... some are a little less beautiful. I always thought that bottlebrushes (a family in the melaleuca camp) often just looked like very decorative toilet brushes.

I adore seeing the flowers close up and seeing the things that are the same and that are different about the bush on the other side of the country

What a gorgeous group of pictures. I am in love with the eucalyptus flowers and that unknown flower. Oh, and all of the beach/ocean shots. And the raven shots. And... *sheepish grin* I think you get the picture. LOL!
