And the fur and the costume broke around six Artline Drawing System technical pens too.
I don't know why I enjoy doing these so much (repetitive animal backgrounds).
But I really really do.

Holy shit, woman. The detail on that is amazing. My hands hurt just thinking about how much have gone into that, though! o.o

The rabbit motif reminds me a bit of the style in the animated Watership Down, which was one of my favorite movies growing up (even if certain scenes creeped me out).

Yeah, it is a lot of detail. I probably could've gone more detailed on the rabbits, and it was tempting, but it would've been too distracting in the end.

Holy crap! This is so damned detailed and so pretty! And I agree that the "barfed" rabbits have a similar style to Watership Down.

I hadn't noticed the foxes and dogs the last time you'd shown a shot of this. And what are the little bitey critters on the hems of the sleeves? Ants? Fleas? Something else?

This is truly insane. The first thing I noticed and really loved was the open eye detail. So fantastic. I also loved the ceremonial looking garb - it looks so realistic. I love this piece! I look forward to seeing it colored.

I like the ceremonial garb too. Designing new 'costumes' is one of my favourite things in the Wandsuna series. If I ever have a fancy-dress party, I'll make one up and get a little red globe and go as a Wandsuna figure.

Oh wow, the detail on it is amazing O.O Even though it's supposed to be a disturbing image, I'm just currently fascinated with it, especially the variety of things on the robe and the detail throughout the image.

It's amazing all the people who see Watership Down in it, since I don't remember the movie and didn't love the book (I find dystopic animal tales just a little too heart-crushing to enjoy them); but it's cool as well, people seeing something in the picture that wasn't intended. I think that's the joy of art.

I'm sad about the negative emotional reaction too, though I did also intend the illustration to be confrontation and - for some - threatening or even viscerally disturbing. It's not a 'comfortable' picture. I know some people can view it comfortably, but I can't.

I'm really loving the details on the coat especially, though it's ALL amazing. Are those dogs? Or two dogs two foxes?

It all has a very cathartic feel to it.

This hits a lot of really interesting points for me. I know when I'm doing heavy work I often feel like I'm pushing things up out of my mouth (or vice versa). My whole brain went *PING!* seeing this.

It's gorgeous and definitely a little bit out there, but for me it's a good sort of out there.

Oh, that's awesome that you've said this. The 'vice versa' part (pushing things out of, or having things go itno the mouth) is going to be represented in another Wandsuna image.

As per everyone else's "hey, Watership Downy;" the fox/dog motif on the kimono strikes me as very much the Thousand.

I don't know what the Thousand is (I assume it's to do with Watership Down), but I do like that everyone is seeing this important movie/book to them in this illustration.

It definitely has a very strong emotional impact, too.. for me, very unsettling.. panicky sort of feelings.

I am sorry that it has made you unsettled. The aim of the illustration is to evoke this in some members of the audience who 'read' the illustration, but I still don't personally like causing people discomfort, even if cathartically, as an artist, it's important to me.

I am particularly smitten with the details on the robe -- the leaves, the foxheads. And the eyes of the hares. This is smashing. Very elemental, for want of a better word. I am very curious to see this coloured, to see how it will compare alongside the fox piece. Of course being me I'll probably remain most entranced with the black and white, but that's because of all the stupendous detail.

It'll be less 'bright' than the fox piece, overall, mostly because the redness of the foxes really did make that an insanely colourful piece. This will be a little more conservative. For a Wandsuna illustration, anyway.
