Anyway, an illustration for an upcoming exhibition (Natcon 50's Future Imperfect), in which I will be exploring an imperfect future where augmented animals are used for human profit.

In this, elephants are genetically engineered to be both massive, and to take advantage of their ability to uproot and take down trees. They are fed on some of the foliage of the fallen trees, cost little to 'fuel' in comparison to proportionately sized machinery, and desire the destruction of trees to the point where the run into new areas to deforest with little hesitation and even outright enthusiasm.

The others in the series:

The Sea Shepherd
Portable Photovoltaic Systems

These are lavishly rendered, but creepy in concept.

I agree with this completely.

Also, those are still some big damn elephants. They are more oliphant than elephant.

But the colors are just breathtaking.

This stuff is incredible. I absolutely love the way they came out, all of them.

This one projects great movement, and the little 'snap' feature of the tree breaking is intense.

Fantastic. I'm so excited for this art show.

So, so beautiful. This is probably my favorite of your non-totem series.

This is simply epic. It makes me a little fearful too, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

I really like the sky (and the birds), and the shading on the elephants. It's an unhappy landscape, this distopian steampunk future of yours, but still beautiful.

This is really gorgeous. I love how you've set the color palette on this one. I really like that coppery metallic you used.

Very cool. I find the colour scheme ominous.
