Hey, remember how I had two cats?

Maybe with her treatball. Sort of. (Maybe doing what Maybe does best; getting distracted.)

She still has a fractious relationship with the treatball, and it's one of the few times I've seen a real 'domestic cat' kind of nature with her. She really often doesn't see the point in working for food unless she's really hungry, or really, really bored. Which is great - because it keeps her occupied when she's really, really bored. But when she's not (like here), she gets distracted very easily.

Here's Moet, everyone's favourite 'laundry basket sleeper.'

In this photo I called Moet's name and Maybe looked up at me, because she is opportunistic enough to think if I call Moet's name, there might be food involved, and she wants in on that. She also gets very jealous. If we pat Moet in the same room as her, she will get up from wherever she is and muscle in on his territory (often by aggressively licking his head). We generally try and keep a lid on this, mostly now by putting her away sometimes and giving concerted attention to Moet (which seems to have shifted their hierarchy a little, and she seems to be okay with it so far).

Maybe has certainly put on mass since the last full-body photos you shared. I think she might be settling into her adult physique -- which will be a relief if it spares you from growth-spurt antics! She's charming as always, of course, but I particularly like Moet's expression in the second photo. You can see how calm, curious, and engaged he is (it's very "Yes?" with a suave inflection). Maybe of course just looks eager. :D

Heh, I'd love to get more photos of Maybe looking truly relaxed. Moet's so switched on. Glen and I were talking last night about how much we liked this in companion animals - ones that do very much engage.

She has chunked out a bit, though some of that might be the treat ball. But we're keeping an eye (Moet is actually currently on a weight loss diet again). I can still feel her back two ribs (which is a sign of healthy weight in cats; so I've been told anyway) and the top bits of her spine when she sits down, so I'm hoping it's just normal cat mass and not 'chunky monkey' mass (a la Moet, of chunky monkey fame).

Judging just from the image* I wouldn't worry. I deliberately said mass rather than weight because it looks like mostly muscle and bone to me, and that she's at a healthy weight and proportion to herself. (Seriously, if you have a handy photo from three months ago, compare her chest/shoulders/forelimbs with now -- I think you'll see she's added bone and muscle.)

As for "relaxed" photos, that may come with time. :)

*of course you really have to determine that from feel -- if you can easily feel ribs but they're not protruding, and can really see and feel the definition on the last two and the animal has a waist then it's at healthy weight. That's difficult to distinguish from a picture, but I don't see any thickening where there shouldn't be, so to my eye she looks great.

They look soooo soft :3

Moet is actually quite rough to the touch (aside from his belly), but Maybe is very, very soft. Not the softest cat I've ever met, but still very soft and nice to pat. :D
