I don't really have much to do with elephants, but I know they are naturally designed to destroy and pull trees up by the roots; so I decided to take it further.
Hee, little person in the corner! I wanted to give it a greater sense of 'insane' scale - kind of like how The Sea Shepherd has a tiny little steamer in the middle, and most people don't notice it until they look really closely and then suddenly 'giant squid' becomes 'ZOMG THAT SQUID IS ENORMOUS.'
I've always loved the idea of mega-mega-fauna anyway.
There's a story behind all the pieces for the Future Imperfect exhibition; but I haven't been explaining them, leaving them up to people's imaginations. The basis, or my brief though, was the illustrate augmented animals in a future where they are only permitted to exist if they can somehow be harnessed for our benefit.

Date: 2011-01-25 04:39 pm (UTC)It took the little person, and comparing zir to the elephant's leg, to realize that the howdah on its back is the size of a house. o.o
I like the Sea Shepherd for the same reason - I didn't pick the steamer up at first, and then when I did, the shell made so much more sense!
