This also counts as my photo of the day.

I've done something quite unusual for me. Usually I put up pictures that I think most people can see in one go, to give an idea of the whole picture. It sacrifices a lot of details that I think people may appreciate. So while the picture above is that 'whole view' picture, here is a much larger version that actually shows the details, right down to the dots in the cloak.

Thank you for showing the detail. The spirals at the very bottom, behind the flowers, look especially time-consuming.

They weren't too bad actually. The dots took the longest, if you rush, the spacing isn't right and it creates unwanted visual effects, so it's a matter of balancing speed with balance / space. Drives me crazy.

I'm in awe of the amount of time and effort you put into your art. I love that you provided a larger view so we can see all the details.

I can only imagine the hand cramping from all those details.

But, I totally think it was worth it! The picture is turning out nicely!

Yeah, my left hand starts to really ache after a while. If I do it all day, I need to not do anything with my hands that evening; but soaking my hands in hot water helps. And massaging them.

My hand is cramped just looking at it. And yet...how I love inking. What do you use? (For inking)

Holy wow. That's just...

You know what amazes me? Your rough sketch (which you are always so brave and kind to show us) is really basic. And I always think "Well, but she's just sketching and it's just a concept..." But no. You take that EXACT sketch and layer details on it, the same exact sketch, until it's something awesome.

That's why your work is so powerful. It's honest. You don't re-do or tweak or manipulate or trace or any of that crap...it's just this sketch that turns into an awesome multi-layered piece of art.

I really, really must buy an original. Owning all those layers atop that honest sketch would be very exciting.

*blush* I do sketch, but I don't sketch these pictures. I mean, outside of the sketch that goes directly onto the illustrator's board. I used to be very embarrassed about this (I hated, no, loathed doing mock-ups in highschool, it felt 'wrong' to me, even though I did love sketching in general to keep my skills up); but my mentor said that my organic composition process was an asset, and not something to be ashamed of.

Which was awesome. So thank you very much for this comment, it's quite an affirmation for me. :)

And this is why the pointillism. Because you've got the mad skills. This is absolutely stunning. I can't wait to see it in color.

(Also, what sort of flowers are those?)

It's red poppies, and then probably jasmine (I say probably, because I made the other ones up. That's me, officially researched flowers alongside 'five petals will work well.' Lol.)

Oh man, my brain is just having a field day imagining the possible colour schemes. Weee!

It will probably be pretty bold and maybe boring compared to other colour schemes. But it needs to be striking because of the red of the cloak and poppies.
