This series of frogs are specifically elemental frogs, small enough to be used on an altar, or for directional support when 'calling' the corners. Each frog shape is based on a different frog morphology. Under the cut you'll find photos and scans of all of them. :)

Earth Frog - scan.

These are only being sold together - as a batch of four, original and signed pieces. Here's what they look like. They are done on illustrator's board, with watercolour pencil, pencil, water-fast fineliner, and acrylic and iridescent paint. Measuring 9 x 17 centimetres, or 3.5 x 6.6 inches.

$145 USD / $185 AUD
(including insured / registered shipping).
This works out to less than $50 a piece, which for four signed originals, just doesn't happen very much anymore! Gotta love a recession (well, not really...)

One of the weird-looking Australian frogs that actually lives without water for months at a time inside the earth, carrying all its water inside it instead.

Can't remember the name though. *blush*

I think it's just called a Water-Holding Frog. But don't quote me on that.

I knew one called Tiddalik. ;)

I like them! I like them lots. I think using the different frog morphologies/body styles to suggest the different elements worked out very well. Is Air a tree frog? That was my guess from appearance.

Air is based loosely on the red-eyed tree frog. :D

I apologize in advance--Water Frog immediately made me think of Frogger crossing the river ;)

But seriously--these are awesome! I'm really liking this alternative elemental interpretation of various totems, because so often people get locked into assorted correspondences.

Have you ever thought about doing a Tarot deck or some other oracle based on your stye of art? I would totally buy it.

From: [identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com
I've actually done an oracle deck, though I'm not in any rush to get it published. You can see the artwork for it (it focused on Australian animals) here:

And you can see my animal totem dictionary here:
