Guinea Pig as Totem

The guinea pig, or cavy, is a small rodent that is neither a pig or from Guinea! Heh. Guinea pigs in Western culture are most commonly known for being wonderful animal companions. However in the rest of the world they are also a cheap, viable food source, and are associated with Indigenous folklore and mythologies. Guinea pigs are intelligent, vocal creatures; and kinda pathologically adorable!

we had them as kids, and they were the only pets I didn't really bond with - I got along with the bunny rabbit better, she was tamer. My bro's pig died mysteriously and one day mine disappeared out of the hutch (neighbourhood feral cat maybe?)

I had a similar experience. I had bunnies and guinea pigs as a kid and defnitely connected with the bunnies better, though we were lucky to have affectionate and sweet pigs. Two of ours died mysteriously too.

sad when they just keel over :(( Maybe I'd appreciate them more now. Though I have just inherited a second cat so theres no way there will be any defenceless rodents coming into my household.

Oh how wonderfully awesome. Piggy lips and all. WHEEEEK!!!

Guinea pigs are also known for being lab animals. You wouldn't believe how many patients have told me that they "feel like a guinea pig" after they've been tried on all these meds that don't work for them. I always kinda take it wrong for a brief millisecond and go into "cute mode." :)

Anyway . . . I want my doe beyond a shadow of a doubt. I look at her and know that she is mine mine mine. This one, oddly enough, doesn't feel like mine even though I really do love it. So I think I'll release it to give it a chance to find its real home. And if no one snaps it up, maybe I'll reconsider later. :)

As for payment for the doe . . . I think it makes more sense to do Lisa's and mine together. And since the next on your list are hers, I'll wait until that's done and get her yea/nay and then do it all together. Does that make sense?

EEEEEEEEEE!

I have died of cuteness overload. I don't usually think of your art as cute, but you're right, it's appropriate in this case because the animal in question has cuteness as an integral part of its makeup.

Once upon a time, my sister had a cockatiel that would make this weird whistling noise. We couldn't figure out what it was mimicking... was it whistling a secret cholo code (old-school Mexican gangbangers use a whistle code to communicate), was it a weird car alarm, something in a commercial? We had no clue. One day, though, we had our door open & the neighbors had their guinea pigs outside. The guinea pigs would whistle & the cockatiel would whistle back. I always wondered if they understood each other.

People eat guinea pigs? I look at that adorable picture and said "Omnomnom." The guinea pig didn't respond, he must be too dignified for me...

My mother-in-common-law's sister raises bunnies as 'meat rabbits' and is always trying to tell me how to raise Ophelia (our bunny) and thats awesome because she's a dumb twat and putting her in her place makes me feel better about myself, especially since the dumb cow eats rabbits. Oh, my self-esteem, she is damaged. Uhm. Yes. Cute cavy :3 Bunnies have awesome mouths too, so fricken cute.
