Blue jays rock! We don't get them on the west coast -- we get Steller's jays instead, which are also made of awesome.

Yup! And scrub jays, who aren't quite as closely related, but a lot more noticeable in urban areas.

One of these days, when I have moneys again, I need to commission a Scrub Jay pic. I wonder what hir vocalization would look like?

that's weird, I lived for 5 years in San Jose, and swear I had a blue jay harrassing my cat one day. Maybe it was a Scrub.

either way - the image is great!

Was it a loud, shrill "VWEET! VWEET!" call that went up at the end?

Very, very nice! It brings out Blue Jay's boldness well. Tough-as-nails birds, that's for sure. I once had one beat me up when I got too close to her babies. I was young and *thought* I was helping but she didn't see it that way, lol.

Can't wait to see this one tonight. I love the bold black line down the chest and around the face. Lovely colours, as always. Lovely picture, as always.

Ooo really? Email me! You know, if we're sneaky, I can cut $15 off for postage and drop it off this or next weekend. *blush*

It might be a quick way for me to see you and break the ice (for me), and to get the first meeting for a while out of the way too?

Bird was outside, we (cat and I) were inside; I don't recall him making noise.

It was more of a "I'm going to hop around this patio in full view and you can't do anything about it, neener neener"

Oh, how beautiful! If whomever it's on hold for doesn't want it, let me know. :)

Oh, I love the contrasts here -- the red background and the blue of the Jay. This one looks pensive to me; almost like s/he's saying "Look beneath the exterior, and then you find true worth", or something. :)

Oh wow! I love the blues on him! We have a jay that visits our backyard every once in a while. They're amazing.

I love blue jays! They're so stunning. It's fun to see you doing some critters that I see in my back yard regularly.
