I was given a wonderful opportunity to work with an artist I have actually had works favourited of (on DeviantArt) for years! Hee. [livejournal.com profile] _graywolf_, or Illahie over at DA. Her close buddy and friend Duncan (a ferret) passed away recently.

As I already had stoat on my list of animals to do, it wasn't a jump to change stoat to ferret and then try and capture the spirit of Duncan. :)

18.5 x 20.5cm (or 7.4 x 8 in)
illo's board, fineliner, aquarelle, pencil, metallic paint

Fantastic work... You know I'm fairly speechless. This will help me a great deal with the proper grieving process when Oscar is recovered and time allows me to finally sit down and let go of everything.

I cannot thank you enough for this

Squee! LOVE!!!

There is something almost photographic in quality about his eye; they are so realistic that it's eerie. They are alive. I think that ferret is trying to say something! (And if he's anything like the other ferrets I've had a chance to know, it is probably something along the lines of "Hey! That chick has excellent sparkly jewellery. The jewellery must now be mine! Engage stealth mode!"

Now I need a ferret. You really must stop doing this to me. :-)

An amazing and lovely tribute! I love the gold, brown, and blueish hues in the spirals. It is both earthy and etherial looking at the same time.

I see what you were saying about the 'weirdness' of the composition and the 'last significant look' the other day. This is really something, P. And a significant look indeed... very engaging... just hold you with that gaze...

Did anyone see his nose wiggle when they first looked at it, or was it just my morning-bleared eyes?

Awr, Duncan.

~nod~ i got the feeling that it might have been Illahie's ferret, when you mentioned this in the previous post.

Beautiful work.
