I've been putting off this post because I just couldn't stand Liverpool. It was partly my fault re: where we booked the Airbnb + accessibility issues (I was too shafted to catch public transport into the city), but we were also just in a deeply unsafe place, in a really hideously appointed flat (I will go into details soon, lmao).

Anyway, here is a picture of Bella, she's a rescue dog from a backyard breeder who forced her to have a litter at one. This was at my Uncle Simon's house (for the record, I have a stepfather called Simon, a brother called Simon, two Uncles called Simon, and I'm pretty sure there's more Simons around that family as well). It's my second ever time meeting him, he's quiet and lovely, and looks so much like Mum.

Here we are, here we go )

I loved Edinburgh.

I loved it there. For a week afterwards Glen and I were looking at the possibility of moving to Scotland. Actually, for four weeks afterwards we were doing this. I spent a lot of time on NHS websites and forums trying to work out where the treatment of my SDHD syndrome comes under their treaty with Australia and access to free healthcare (it's not great).

But oh, hilly and not at all accessible but filled with sculpture and art, beautiful architecture, friendly people. The folks in our Airbnb were so lovely, after 5 hours of driving we arrived to a large apartment building, and the check in instructions weren't up to date, and another woman came (who didn't actually own the flat but lived in there) and she helped us, told us where she lived if we needed anything, and as she was talking to us, a couple came over with their pugs and told us what flat they were in, and told us to get them if we needed anything.

Honestly, this was how most of the people we met in Scotland were. Just...really generous.

'yon Empress of the North,' I love you.

I've broken Edinburgh up into several different posts so it's not a flood of images )
