The unicorn moon-sickle bird of paradise is known for being one of the few predominantly white birds of paradise. It is easily as rare as the white-leaved jasmine upon which it feeds. Unicorn moon-sickles have unknown courtship rituals, and a soft but melodious call which is only issued past the hour of midnight. The unicorn moon-sickle is nocturnal, and sports its showy plumage all year round. Only able to fly short distances, usually from branch to branch.

The unicorn moon-sickle is so named due to its white colouring, unicorn-like tail, and white 'horn.'
