The place where you don't stand still too long in certain sections of the path, because bull ants have one of the highest death counts in Australia.

The place where you will always hear at least one species of parrot.

Banksia graveyard. The amount dead suggests either a lot of Phytophthora (dieback) at once or alternatively the local groundwater table dropped and the tree's roots just didn't reach it anymore. Sadly this latter issue is a big problem in our bushland, as we drain our groundwater for drinking.

So different to where we live.

My latest set of posted pics is of an iron age fort a few miles from us.

My guess is that the plant with the white blooms is kick bush, Styphelia pallida, formerly Astroloma pallidum. Now who'd want to kick these prickly bushes?

All my books will still have it as Astroloma! The downsides of not being able to afford to update them regularly! :D We have a few different kick bushes in Maralla.

Don't fret it, you'll never keep up with taxonomy. I can't remember all the times the taxonomic nomenclature for cougars changed. It's much worse for plants. ^_^
