[Art] Three Seabirds - Northern Gannet, Razorbill, Great Skua (Complete)

Honestly I had these finished like a week and a half ago.

But the thing I find hardest these days is actually sharing them across social media. Which for me includes two FB pages, two Tumblr pages, Instagram, DeviantArt, Etsy and here. And apparently sometime ago that just became too much. But I also feel bad if I don't share them everywhere. And simultaneously feel guilty for the like 5 people who are following me at *all* of these places and so sees them literally everywhere fdsakljfdas

I really just need to get over it, lol.

Did you see any oystercatchers on your trip north?

I don't know that I did! Tbh, I didn't see most of these seabirds, or maybe I did, and didn't recognise them, because I had no bird identification books and I'm mostly trained to recognise the flora and fauna of Western Australia.

I continue to adore the Skua. The gold lines and the bright background and all those subtle, shaded browns! WOW.

The Skua was tremendous amount of fun, and represents among other things - Piracy. I actually think a pretty good totem for the youth of today that often need to torrent/pirate things to have fair distribution and access to different forms of media.

As a fan of penguins, I ended up learning about skuas sort of by accident, but they're very interesting in their own right.

I keep reading the expression of yours as a combination of joyful confidence and raucous hunger.

All are beautiful! But I especially love the colors for the razorbill!

Thank you! I loved the colours for the Razorbill. The black got a bit mauled in the scan and the photos (it always does), but it was so much fun layering violets / browns / and dark blues to get the sense of black I wanted.

These are so lovely! I especially like the Razorbill, but seeing them all together with their colours is just gorgeous.

Thank you! I had fun colouring them, especially since I'm a bit intimidated by colouring atm (which is probably why I haven't started the flower wolverine yet lol).

Now coloured I definitely like the gannet best -- so rich and subtle, but of course I'm also very partial to brown and so love the skua.

The photos/scan don't do the gannet justice either. The orange of the back of its head/neck really is more peach and cream than it is just straight orange, but that's okay. The black of the razorbill has been mauled too, but as you know, it can be impossible to get black animals to come out properly sometimes!
