Despite it being windy and rainy,
it was a good day for seeing the raptors.
I think the wind stirred their spirits a bit.
This batch of photos includes:
the Boobook owl, the Powerful Owl, the Tawny Frogmouth, the Brahminy Kite and the Wedge-Tailed Eagle (which it's still legal to hunt in most states, making it the most persecuted / killed eagle in the world)

The Boobook is a small owl, and the most widespread and common in Australia.

They have a very distinctive call, and most people have heard them at night once or twice in their lives, sometimes a great deal more often. Even in the suburbs.

Brahminy Kites are so striking.

The Powerful Owl is Australia's largest owl. And usually asleep when we come.

The Tawny Frogmouths didn't even care to pretend to be trees, lol.

Completely unbothered by us.

And this glorious one is the Wedge-Tailed Eagle. We saw a few while driving down. :)

The boobook looks a little like our native little owl.

Gorgeous pics!

Ohh, I love these so much!

The Boobook owl looks so grumpy. LOL. And Brahminy Kites are awesome. I managed to take a shot with one and also a White-bellied Sea Eagle when I was in Langkawi a few years ago.

Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.

What a gorgeous eagle! Much more gracile than the two species we have here, and so very handsome. I like all of the photos (and have actually seen the Tawny Frogmouth in a zoological collection, though it was always sleeping when I was there), but the eagle is particularly striking. The Boobook is charmingly named as well as being beautiful. I always get a kick out of the smaller owls, where it's "is there an actual bird under that pile of feathers?".

I love how fluffed up the boobook and frogmouth are, like they're shrugging into big fluffy coats.

Wedgies are beautiful, regal creatures, and these photos capture that well.
