Melbourne Zoo Part III

We were there at feeding time,
which was why we caught a lot of active animals,
that are often sleeping or not visible.
I usually go to the Zoo really early in the morning,
but since taking Endep and Valdoxan I can't do that anymore.
Unexpected benefits - arriving at a Zoo at feeding time. :)

Something about the lines in the giraffe faces fascinates me. So many unique wrinkles, makes me curious about what the excess skin on the face accomplishes.

And of course, so much love for the gorgeous tiger.

(Also, peccaries! I have never seen them before!)

Ooo, I don't know about the wrinkles either, I wonder if it's something to protect their skin from thorns on acacia trees maybe (i.e. more likely to stretch skin than go through to something important) but that's wild wild wild speculation and honestly I have not a single clue.

how wonderful! the tiger is just mmmmm, looks so sleek and silky I just want to run my hands over her. And the giraffe faces are a delight. :p indeed

The tiger did have a very close pelt, it looked amazing and shiny. :D

The giraffe faces just looked like an endless amount of silly, unimpressed reaction shots :D

I wish you could go too! But I can also kind of understand why - even if you had more time - it would be fiddly. It might be close, but there's like busy roads etc. surrounding it. Hopefully there's more opportunities in the future though. *hugs*

I particularly like the last giraffe photo. They are all wonderful, though! And tapirs may indeed be strange, but they're actually quite pleasant (at least the Lowland tapir, which is the only one I have personal experience with).

I would love to see tapirs more, but they're not at Perth Zoo, so it's more 'ahh, unique animal!' than 'this is an animal I'm familiar with.' I mean I've seen them in documentaries but...I'm not even sure I've illustrated one as a totem, tbh. Which kind of surprises me in retrospect because I know I've put them on shortlists before.
