I think one of the things I like about Perth Zoo,
is how happy a lot of the animals are.
They keep their old enclosures (empty) to show the 'old way' that they used to do things
(minimal room for the animal, maximum entertainment for the viewer).
But now they follow the Durrell method, and so sometimes that means you don't see
a lot of the animals. But when you do see them. They're generally in very good repair.

Quokka

Western Brush Wallaby - we see these guys in Koondoola bushland a lot.

Koala

Red Panda - The red panda was *very* far away and usually not even visible (whenever I am there), so it's a little blurry. Honestly I'm just happy to have the shot.

Orangutan

Galapagos Tortoise

Eeeee, some of my favourite Australian critters are in this set. (Also the dingo is also very striking, I love them too). I didn't realize the FANGS on lemurs. D: They always look so... not bitey.

The red panda shot is *wonderful* all considering how far-away and hide-y it was. I love red pandas. :D

The Orangutans are very happy! :) I also appreciate the Quokka photos very much as this is not a species I've ever managed to see in real life. The biggest center near me has a nice zoological collection including Red pandas, and they are in an enclosure where they can amble about and do their business without being too aware of the people around them (it's arranged on a steep slope, so the animals are head height with people when they're in the trees, but down below when they're roaming about on their "downed" logs or in the grass). I've consequently been fortunate to see them from very close indeed -- 2 m or so. I'm always struck by the fact that they have pronounced pads on their feet instead of the more concave configuration you would expect for gripping branches.

I have never before seen a Quokka! Thank you for sharing all of these critters, and introducing me to a new species today. :)
