Within Perth.
That's a thing I do.
Also I don't recommend getting a second degree burn in your mouth.
Nope.
It hurts.

Well the tide is well and truly out.

The gelateria at Hillarys is one of my favourite places in the WORLD.





This is just their sorbet section. They rotate their flavours daily.









Ellenbrook town square. This is where I live! Well, not actually *in* the town square.





Luna cinemas before seeing Mistaken For Strangers, a film about the band The National. Afterwards we talked to Matt Berninger. Which, by the way, was AWESOME. I am also now calling him Matt Bear Ninja.





By the way, the next night we actually went and SAW the National play at Belvoir Amphitheatre. We were way up the back, which hardly mattered, and they played a 22 song setlist. It was JOY.













Now we are in Mt Lawley, looking at street art.





And now we are in Yuzu in Mt Lawley, eating unagi (eel) sushi. YUM.





Now we're in the City of Perth for the Japanese Festival which turned out to be a total bust (too busy, terrible venue - it was much better when it was held at the Japanese Cultural Centre).





It was also during the Festival of Perth.





I quite liked this street art though.













We have an ongoing gag where, wherever we're out, I get a photo of them looking unimpressed with me.





This is jellyfish sushi. It's my favourite. Because JELLYFISH.





This is my ramen with shio broth. SO GOOD.





And this was Glen's soft-shelled crab noodle soup.

Oh, I can imagine how good that concert must have been!! I got introduced to The National a year or two ago, and I'm kind of constantly blown away by how good they are (I only have a couple songs, I need more >.>).

The street art is very cool! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the National -- I've liked what I've heard of theirs. I will, however, have to agree to disagree with you about the jellyfish sushi. Perhaps it's just the jellyfish that I've had (both sushi and fried crispy) but it wasn't particularly tasty. It wasn't *bad* either, just bland. Then again, we are very far from any ocean here, so the marine food tends to all not be so good.

I am also very jealous of your ramen. There are zero ramen places in my city. :(

Oh man, they were so great. He just has so much power live, like, it's hard to imagine really, but Matt Bear Ninja just really brings it - so if you ever have an opportunity, even only knowing a few songs, I'd definitely recommend it.

Great! Um actually like, no it doesn't have much of a distinct flavour. It absorbs the flavours of what's around it. So it's sort of...very light squid-ish, with a rubbery texture, and in this case it tasted like sweet soy and sesame oil.

I find it delicious though. :D

The National just brought so much energy like, their music can be very 'low' - but with the amazing instrumentation and just...Matt Bear Ninja's energy, they are actually a really dynamic act live.

The jellyfish - what I've had - has always been very fresh. For me it is rubbery (like some squid), with a 'light squid' taste, and it usually absorbs the flavours of what's around it. Here it's frequently marinaded in sesame oil and light soy. I haven't had it fried/crispy before though! I'd be curious to see what it tastes like in other contexts.

That gelato place is SO good. They have a chocolate gelato which has like, whole chunks of belgian chocolate in it and it's like a dream come true.

I wish you could have some ramen places there! We're very lucky for things like that, Zensaki is one of our favourites, but there are like...many to choose from.

Ooooers! I definitely want to try that! Too bad I don't think there's any place around here that makes it. This may require some google-fu to find recipes and try making it myself with locally harvested jellies...
