[Photography] Macros (Monday batch two).

I like macro photography,
it recalls my early childhood,
when I would spend hours just staring at small things in the garden.
And now I have an excuse to stare at small things again.
It's rather wonderful.


Sneaking up on a sleeping fly.






























The natural colour of our local soil is pale grey. :)

I couldn't believe I got it. I snuck up on many sleeping flies that day, and they all got away, except for this one.

Wow! I particularly love the set of leaves rimmed in purple :)

They were just unexpectedly gorgeous. I'd never noticed that they were rimmed in purple before, it makes sense, because the actual flowers themselves when they come are a brilliant magenta.

Glad you enjoyed the fly! I love the metallic green they go in certain seasons - it's gorgeous, even if they are pests!

Lovely! Did you take these using a stand of some sort or just holding the camera with your hands?

I use my hands for everything - I have no stand / tripod for the phone. I think the artwork has given me moments of steadiness that I can pull from, but I have to really concentrate, because my hands can be prone to shaking, especially if I'm holding the phone at an odd angle to get the shot.

Good work with the fly! It really is quite stunning. I also rather like the purple-rimmed leaves.
