moonvoiceTowards the end of our trip we were seeing a lot of Simon's family,
and he hails from Barnetby, and he has family and friends in Messingham,
and their local ocean stomping ground was Cleethorpes and such.
It was cold, despite the blue skies (actually colder, because there
were no clouds to hold in any humid air or warmth)
but it was a good day.
One of the things I noticed in England, that we don't have - is the pavilions that go right out onto the beach itself. Like the Brighton Pavilion, and the Cleethorpes Pavilion. Despite having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, we don't utilise them as tourism zones in quite the same way that England does. Or at least, Western Australia doesn't.
Simon, my stepfather (basically my Dad) in the foreground, and Simon (my brother) and Brian in the background. Simon and Brian are best friends, and even though Brian is Simon's nephew, they are more like brothers.

Simon Jnr is actually a black belt in Zen Do Kai, and though you can't really tell here, Brian and Simon spent almost ALL of their time together fighting, lol.
Brian was generally at a distinct disadvantage.

I don't have many Hitchin photos because I was tremendously ill by this point, and then Glen fell ill, and we were only really here for two days - since we spent the night in London at one point. Hitchin was lovely, but the house was not all it promised. There was no internet connection - even the GPS dropped out and couldn't find us on the map frequently - they turned their heating off at night which isn't really...great for people from Australia who are used to 40C days coming into the height of an England winter. Glen spent an entire evening running a high fever and shivering uncontrollably. I ended up covering him with six blankets, but wow, he was sick. He could have done with some heating. :/ Especially as he then had to catch a ton of public transport to London the next day.
But, ANYWAY...while I can't say I'd necessarily return to Hitchin, it *was* a beautiful place.

Glen looks like he's disapproving of Mum here, but actually they were in the middle of an intense debate and then Mum saw me sneaking this shot and poked her tongue out.

Next - and last of all - London! Of which I don't have a great deal, because I was very, very ill. But I still loved it.
