Also known as Shakespeare's birthplace!
We were only here for a night,
and alas, I didn't get too many photos.
Also no one can agree on where Shakespeare was actually born.
But anyway, it's definitely a place steeped in history, and it was pretty incredible
eating at a pub that had been open since 1470-ish.
Because let me tell you,
we have nothing like that here in Australia.
Permanent residences didn't exist until settlement.

But first, nothing to do with Shakespeare!

I found the little details in the brickwork personally fascinating.

Houseboats!

This was in that pub that I mentioned above.

Eggs and gammon and salad and chips for dinner. The serving sizes were BEYOND huge. Like, holy crap. I'm surprised they couldn't just float me home like a beachball after the pub serving sizes in England. They were beyond belief. I couldn't finish a meal anywhere. And I'd be amazed at those who could. I thought Perth pub sizes were big. Holy shit.

Sorry there aren't more photos. I was too busy enjoying myself!

I haven't been responding to too many of the photo posts, but I've really been enjoying looking through them. Thank you for sharing so much of our trip here!

Familiar territory from bits of my misspent yoof.

The West Midlands are so underrated.

Those brickwork details are facinating! The architecture is so different. I'm glad you got a chance to see it.

I'm glad to hear you really enjoyed the food as well as the place. Those are some lovely lead-glass windows also. :)

*sighs wistfully*

I want to go back to the UK so badly. I have a feeling that at the end of my life, one of my hugest regrets is not actually living in the UK for an extended length of time (at least a year, so I can actually live through the seasons as they are there).

And holy YES on the pub food. I went from New York to London, and I thought US food portions were enormous, but the English food! I guess you need it in winter to burn against the cold, though!
