Bullsbrook are on emergency warning to evacuate if way is clear,
homes and lives are at risk.
There are around 3 fires in the area right now.
Keeping an eye out.
Smoke is being blown directly over our house again,
gotta love a strong westerly.

We're okay, not at risk of ember attack here, so it's just a matter of avoiding the worst of the smoke.

Yeah, looking up was really amazing. The sun cast this strange orange-brown glow on everything for hours.

Gosh, this is scary. Fire is one of my absolute worst fears, so watching these posts has me on the edge of my seat! I hope you and yours stay safe.

I don't think you'd like Perth very much in summer! Bushfires are a part of life here, case in point - there were 8 individual out of control fires within a 25 minute drive of us yesterday, though some merged, and some have been brought under control.

That smoke looks particularly acrid and unsafe to breathe as well. :( Hopefully things start going better promptly and everyone is safe, and no property will be lost.

Yeah, DFES has released a formal smoke warning, telling people to stay indoors if they have health conditions exacerbated by smoke. It's 'natural' smoke in the sense that it's from bush and not from say industrial areas, but given how much of it is eucalyptus out there, it's just very pungent, distinct smoke. To be honest, it's such a quintessential 'Perth summer' smell that the actual smell doesn't bother me.

Fire is back out of control this morning. :/ So far some sheds and railway carriages have been lost, but 30 homes have been saved so far, and hopefully that trend continues today.
